Empowering the Next Generation of Wine Professionals: BGPL USA Partners with Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management

Written by: Amy Sedeño, Vice President + Partner

As someone deeply passionate about wine and education, I couldn’t be more excited about our client BGPL USA’s collaboration with FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Through its exclusive Vidal-Duart Wine Studies Program, BGPL became the program's sole French wine education partner.

Through a series of events, master classes, and real-world experiences, this new partnership offers students a unique opportunity to engage deeply with the wine industry, offering hands-on experience that will set them apart as they enter the job market.

Attending the signing ceremony, first master class, and celebratory dinner was a moment to remember—not only because of what this program represents for the students but also for BGPL’s commitment to supporting the country’s first Hispanic-named wine education program. This initiative, launched shortly after Hispanic Heritage Month, underscores that wine is a universal language. As Carlos Varela, BGPL’s CEO and Colombian native, aptly said, “This partnership marks an exciting chapter for BGPL USA as we build meaningful relationships with the next generation of wine professionals.”

Looking ahead, there’s even more to celebrate: in 2025, Barton & Guestier will mark its 300th anniversary—a milestone underscoring a legacy of winemaking excellence, sustainability, and heritage. Recently nominated for Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Star Award as European Winery of the Year, Barton & Guestier reflects a story of resilience and commitment to quality. At CIIC PR, we’re thrilled to support initiatives that foster collaboration and innovation through strategic public relations, celebrating Barton & Guestier’s history while enhancing its reach and connection with new audiences.
